The inadvertent expat blogger behind TidalMeadowFax

Hi there, I'm Sophia
I work as a project manager. I'm a parent. I’m an expat living in Plano, United States.
Several years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually opened a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to United States wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far greater.
The first months were intense — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and evolving expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, ambiguity, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began constructing something that felt solid.
Why I Built TidalMeadowFax
Most online guidance fell into corporate relocation tips or lightweight tourism content. What was missing was a frank, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real-life experience in United States.
What this site covers (and what it doesn't)
This site is:
- Practical insights from living in United States
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site isn't:
- An official tourism resource
- A sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our time in United States continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Plano or anywhere in United States, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sophia
